CBM Guide

Calculate CBM in Yards

Free yards to CBM calculator. Convert L × W × H in yards to cubic meters (m³) for textile rolls, carpets, fabric bales and US export shipments.

Yards remain common for measuring fabric rolls, carpets and rope bales in the United States, UK textile trade and parts of the Middle East. Our CBM calculator supports the yards to CBM conversion directly — 1 yard = 0.9144 m, and 1 cubic yard = 0.7645549 CBM.

Yards to CBM formula

CBM = (Length × Width × Height in yards) × 0.7645549 × Quantity. Equivalently, convert each side by multiplying by 0.9144, then multiply L × W × H.

Example 1 — Fabric roll bale

  • Bale: 1.5 × 1.0 × 0.8 yd = 1.2 yd³ ≈ 0.917 CBM
  • 20 bales → 18.35 m³ — near-full LCL / part FCL

Example 2 — Carpet roll

  • Roll: 5.0 × 0.6 × 0.6 yd = 1.8 yd³ ≈ 1.376 CBM
  • 10 rolls → 13.76 m³

When importers still use yards

Yards is the working unit in the fabric and carpet trade — most quotes from Pakistan, India and Turkey to US buyers still list roll dimensions in yards. Converting to CBM the moment the packing list arrives keeps freight quotes and customs declarations aligned. For a full mixed-shipment calculation, use the multi-row CBM calculator.
